Is just one of the many nicknames I have for my youngest sister, Cecilia. I love coming up with nicknames especially for Cece...past nicknames: Cheetah (how Mageeta originated because it rhymes duh), Lily, Cheech, Babe, Pooey...I could go on and on. Another email that made me smile:

My bed resembles a cloud. Pillowtop mattress, down Northern Nights blanket, down comforter and 6 down pillows. That's right 6. No bed I have slept in yet has come close to being as comfortable as mine. I want to change up my duvet cover for fall/winter and fell in love with this one at the Ralph Lauren Outlet.

Beach Read...

I love to read. Not sure why I didn't become a book editor so I could read for a living. My most recent read while at the beach was "Following Ezra". I was drawn to the book because it is about a boy with Autism. My sister has DownSyndrome and I grew up volunteering at a camp for children with special needs (CP, Autism, DownSyndrome, etc.). The memoir is quite insightful and helped me really grasp what life is like for an autisic child and how difficult it is for them to communicate to surrounding friends and family. Ezra, is an extremely intelligent and lovable young boy. Highly recommend.

Bangle...

I am not a big jewelry person. I always wear the same diamond stud earrings, Judith Ripka rock, and thin baby blue Hermes bangle. Occasionally I mix things up with a necklace and when I do it is usually pearl. But I love these...

Life's a beach...

Off to the beach for a few days. A reprieve from the grueling 12 hour workday on Wall Street. I will be sitting by the fireplace at the beach in my cape, reading my new books and eating pumpkin donuts and fudge from Candy Kitchen of course.

Reading List...

This past weekend I went to Barnes and Noble to get a book or two for my upcoming trip to the beach this week. I bought Where you Left Me by Jennifer Gardner Trulson and in two nights have already finished the book. In short, it is about a wife and mother whose husband is a partner at Cantor Fitzgerald and is killed in the September 11th attacks. The book describes how she copes with her partners death and builds a new life. Strongly recommend. Needless to say, I may need another trip to the bookstore before my trip...

Says I should no longer be taking shots (broke that on my birthday and Friday) and that I should be drinking more cocktails. I think I will stick to Pinot Grigio.

Are my favorite. I love receiving them and I love sending them. I am sending my Mom this card from Papyrus for Halloween and naturally I decorated the envelope with my own Halloween sketches (ghosts and jacko-lanterns. Papyrus has the best cards that will brighten up anyone's day.

The New Yorkers...

Is the new book I cannot get my head out of. Yesterday, I ran home from work and read two chapters before going to the gym. It is fiction, which I usually detest (I am a biography junkie), but for some reason this book is extremely intriguing. Maybe because it takes place in New York (my home) or maybe because the characters are all intertwined and there is so much that could happen. This book also makes me want to get a dog. (If I were to get a dog it would be a bischon and I would name him "Peeve", simply so I could introduce him as "My Pet Peeve").

I Don't Know How She Does It...

Saw this movie by myself this weekend with a big bag of candy from Dylan's Candy Bar and a bag of popcorn. Review: I love anything with SJP obviously. But movie was only okay. Entertaining on a Sunday afternoon that you would be otherwise doing nothing, but not a movie to write home about. PS-Don't take your boyfriend. Guys will hate it.

Emailing. Before this...it was YouTube-ing. You would say a word, any word and she would run upstairs to her computer and type that word into YouTube and then proceed to watch every video under the sun about that topic. Some of her most notable obsessions: skunks, spiders (only because they are my archnemisis and she gets joy out of me twitching) and Michael Jackson...

Godiva Truffle of the Month Club...

Can turn a terrible day right back around...Though I loathe getting constant emails from retailers, I do not mind the emails from Godiva. Today, I got my free truffle for the month of September (got the pumpkin spice, obviously) and was coaxed into buying three truffles just to get another free. Did I mention that I adore sweets?

Churrascaria....

Is a "Brazilian Steakhouse"...where you consume abnormal amounts of meat. Last night, (on my bosses credit card) my roommate and I went to Churrascaria Plataforma. I think I consumed every type of meat there is...chicken, lamb, pork, steak, shrimp, bacon, and the list goes on and on. All of this after the intense salad bar and followed by the dessert cart with capipirinhas in between. I think I may have gained a solid ten pounds just at last night's dinner. Our waiter's name was Dino and he looked like someone out of the Sopranos. And by accident, we may have racked up a bill of $300 on the bosses CC...oops...

Cecilia is 20 years old (she calls herself an adult and thus she "can do whatever she wants") and has Down Syndrome. She is perhaps the happiest, funniest and most beautiful person I know. And as manifest by the email, she likes to eat a lot.

A Little Bit Older and A Little Bit Wiser (I Hope)...

A birthday is an excuse to eat cake all day without feeling guilty, drink too much champagne with friends (or in my case Pinot Grigio) and to splurge on a new outfit (picked up the turquoise silk top and highlighter yellow skirt that I have been lusting after from Ann Taylor already).


Some birthday advice to live by: "Act like a child on your birthday, demand expensive gifts, big cake, a bigger party, and lots of friends. Celebrate it like your rebirth day and start new life again."
